Steelers vs Bears…4:15pm.  Hillary knows who she’s rooting for!!

Last night we went to my friend’s housewarming party.  Holy wow is her house gorg!  I didn’t take pictures b/c I like to keep some friend/family stuff a bit blog private.  But kids, her new place is fabulous!

A brief recap of my eats:

  • toasted italian bread with homemade pesto
  • thai basil curry shrimp (homemade and SO good)
  • 4 pieces of assorted cheeses
  • 2 Philly pretzel sticks with cheese
  • veggies and dip
  • large helping of penne ala vodka
  • and for dessert….the chocolate dipped oreo balls I made (OMG heaven)

Great food.  LOTS of merlot.  Dice games, beer pong, flip cup, cards.   HEAPS of laughs.

Today we have some errands to run and then football.  Clearly.

Go Steelers!

Did I Mention

Hi guys.

On my hiatus last week, I forgot to mention to y’all that the previous week, I won 2 tickets to the US Open courtesy of a giveaway hosted by OIKOS on Facebook!!!!

I asked my dad to go with me, on the ride out to Queens for a number of reasons.

  1. He grew up in Queens
  2. He plays tennis competitively in the USTA (just not the pro level)
  3. He’s fun

So, last Sunday (9/6), Dad and I drove into NYC and parked at Port Authority.  We then hopped on the 7 Train and took the 30-minute ride out to Flushing Meadows, where the US Open is held.

Want to know what was EXTRA cool?  The 7 Train is my dad’s old train line from childhood.  It’s elevated, not underground like most of the Manhattan subway lines, so you can see Queens as you ride thru.  He pointed out the neighborhood where he grew up, the Duane Reade drug store that used to be his A&P grocery store, the train yard he used to play in (and get in trouble in), and the power plant where my great grandfather worked!  I also found out that my grandmother worked at the Park Avenue Regency and my grandfather was a postman whose postal route was 3 floors of the Empire State Building.

Isn’t it so cool to learn family history!

Swenyway.  I won KICKASS tickets!  We were 12 rows from the court…I guess you call that “courtside!”

I think he’s a cutie pie!

Nadal cute

We wrapped up the day by watching Kim Cljisters beat Venus Williams (oops no pics).

It was amazing and I am now a TOTAL tennis freak.  Oh, and when Hubz was watching it on tv, he recorded it with the DVR and realized Dad and I were on tv during Nadal’s match!!!

Thanks OIKOS (you can see their sponsor ad down there)!!!!
