Grab some goji
Good morning kids.
GIVEAWAY Reminder!
F2F Game Reminder!
Today is much better than yesterday. Light years better. I actually felt like my entire body (chemistry) was out of whack yesterday. Probably makes sense given all the vino consumed and it’s effect on my daily meds. Anyway, today I feel cleaned up, rested, and back to normal (snarky) ness.
Breks this morning was based around a fabulous new product I was lucky to receive from the very kind folks at [Me] & Goji!
[Me] & Goji is an online retailer (owned and opereated by 3 cool dudes, Adam, Alexander, and Carl) where you can click and design your own custom batch of organic and natural cereal or granola. There are over 50 very cool ingredients to choose from, including unique items like dried mulberries, goji berries, and raw 5-grain muesli. They offer vegan & gluten free mixes too.
You can custom make your own batch, which is supa fun, by clicking on the ingredients on their site. The coolest part is that their site automatically calculates the nutritionals per serving as you add in ingredients. You can see the numbers change over on the right hand side as you click away. It’s brilliant.
The reason I 100% support these guys though, is because of their ways they make a difference.
- we give 5% of our profits to charities, with a focus on local and regional charities consisting of a small group of passionate people trying to change the world.
- with every cereal capsule we offer an optional $1 green tag to offset the CO2 emissions produced from creating and shipping your cereal by investing the money in renewable energy certificates. add a green tag and, with each order, you improve both your health and the environment…which in turn improves your health, even more…and your children’s health…and their pet’s…the gift that keeps on giving! see our “environmental stewards” page for more info on our green tags.
- we ship with Global Guard boxes that are made from 100% post consumer waste (most boxes are 30-70% PCW) and printed on with vegetable ink. that means not a single tree was damaged to make our boxes.
- we located our warehouse (more like a warehut) next door (literally) to our natural foods supplier in new hampshire in order to completely eliminate delivery emissions.
- we chose a natural foods supplier with a certified organic warehouse, a strong belief in supporting local farmers, and a 30-year history of instilling sustainable business practices. (the ceo was even the first in the area to trade his big suv for a Prius!)
- wherever possible, we use earth-friendly vegetable inks for our printing needs.
- wherever possible, we offer certified organic foods, and are always looking for others!
Yes, their cereals are pricier than grocery store brands. BUT. You are buying a product that is hand mixed by these 3 guys, in their little New England operation. You are supporting a small business with a beautiful corporate mission and dedication to make a difference on this earth.
If you want to support a more sustainable cereal brand than the giant agri-business brands like Kashi (made by Kellogs!), please give these guys a shout. You can tell em I sent you over.
Wanna know what else…you get to NAME your batch!

Meet Treehugger Crunch. Treehugger Crunch is a blend of artisanal cereal, multigrain O’s, granola, mulberry, raspberry, pecans, and flax seed.

The Nutritionals for my mix…

In the cool bowl…
- Treehugger Crunch + unsweetened coconut + apricots
- skim milk
This mix was great. It is very earthy and whole foods tasting, which I am loving more and more as I get older.
Honestly, this is a cereal that tastes real and clean. The mulberry bits were the most fun! It’s not sweet, so if you need that, add in a little coconut like I did, or choose sweeter ingredients. But I don’t like sweet Breks, so for me, this was perfect.
If you’re in need of a new cereal and really want to shake things up and feel GOOD about doing it, check them out.
Thanks to [Me] & Goji for their unique and delicious product.
What’s your favorite whole grainy cereal?

Last night for Din we just reheated leftovers that were in desperate need of being consumed. Hubz had leftover crockpot curried lentils + salad and I had leftover Dad’s marinara on whole wheat spaghetti + salad.

Ok. Get to work bizzy little bees.
Not a nine, but a ten
Hi kids.
GIVEAWAY Reminder.
Well. Today was rockstar. I thought it was going to again today, and since it was sunny and warm with blue skies, I am on cloud ten (because ten is better than nine).
My sister is here!

She’s my BFF times infinity.
Now.
We totally hated each other as kids. To-Ta-LllYY. Ask Dad. He’ll tell you. But we’re besties now.
Did everyone see Hillary’s flower?

!Ole!
<———–dies laughing
Din was Pizza Friday. Whole wheat Boboli crusts, 1 regular veggie and 1 pesto. I gotta give a shout out to my Weight Watchers girls, esp Chels, who helped me decide what to do with the pesto pizza. Her suggestion was Out of this World.

Veggie pizza = pizza sauce + pecorino romano cheese + peppers + onion + mushrooms
Pesto pizza = pesto + goat cheese + sundried maters + spinach

Oh my gaaaaadddd. The pesto pizza was unreal. A total classic. Plus some salad to balance it out.

Dinner on the porch.
And beer. A Magic Hat HIPA, which is one of the best IPAs out there. Totes.

This is a tough weekend for me and the sister, what with Mother’s Day and all. So. I plan to drink A Lot. Y’all just have to bear with me.
I was at a forestry ecology conference all day, and have no pics from it, nor pics of lunch. There wasn’t time. It was a good day tho. I’ll leave it at that.
Breks was hurried (b/c I suck at getting out of bed on time) but great. 1 red berry waffle + blueberries + coconut + lite syrup AND 2 Applegate Farms chicken & apple sausage. Ugh. Those sausge are beyond good. Srsly. Try them.

Tomorrow, I have no idea what I’m doing. Too many options and I have to decide. Good thing I’ve got a buzz on, should help me really winnow things down.
What are y’all up to this weekend?
May edition of F2F
Hi kids.
I’m off work today as part of my mini vaca, long weekend trip to Boston. We’re back home, but I’m catching up on rest and being sober today.
I welcome you to May’s Edition of First to Find (F2F).
F2F is a silly little game (that I plan to take very seriously) in which the husband hides Yoda in a blog photo each day. Yoda may show up in the morning, afternoon, or evening…it’s hard to say really! F2F is easy, anyone can play.
The Rules.
- Check this website daily to find Yoda in a photo
- Post a comment identifying the creature and EXACT photo in which he occurs
Yeah, that’s pretty much it for you guys. See…easy.
I’m going to record the FIRST poster each day that can find Yoda, and all other posters that can correctly find him too. The First to Find poster gets extra points for being the F2F!
At the end of each month, I will tally up the highest number of:
- Total correct F2F identifications per commenter; AND
- Total correct identifications for all other commenters.
So remember, it benefits you to be F2F (extra points)! But everyone can play!
I will send out TWO PRIZES at the end of the month, a Bigger Prize to the F2F poster with the most F2F points, and a smaller prize to the poster with just the most points for correct identifications.

- blog
- mail prizes out to April’s F2F winners

Breks this morning was my normal bowl o cereal.

At the table…

Y’all need to stay tuned this week for a new GIVEAWAY I’m hosting. I’ll post details soon. It’s a great one!
Cya after lunch.
And away we go + F2F Winners!
Hi kids.
Quick post cuz I’m out the door and on my way to Boston in 20mins. The hubz and I are doing a weekend trip up there to visit college friends. I also get to see my friend Beth, for whom we hosted the Auction & Bake Sale. Yay!
We just finished a kickass lunch made up entirely of odds and ends I wanted to empty out of the fridge.

At the table…
- Applegate Farms ham + American cheese + spinach + lettuce + dijon on Marathon whole grain bread
- Cut veggies with roasted red pepper hummus among us
- baked white cheddar Kettle chips
Yummy.
I’ve got 2 tupperware containers packed, 1 with cereal/trailmix/dried fruit & the other with assorted cookies for the drive up.
I spent all morning cleaning, computering, & packing. And Now it’s time to Go!
Quickly…Breks…

On the pear plate…
- half a Bosc pear
- Nature’s Path red berry & flax waffle + dried blueberries + coconut
- 2 Applegate Farms chicken & apple sausage
- COFFEE
I am big puffy heart those sausages. I could eat 4-5 of them easily. Easily. The waffle was a new one in this house. It was good, but it kinda fell apart while I was eating it. No biggie, just a little inconvenient.
Lastly, I want to announce the winner’s of April’s First to Find Game!
Allison (mathchic), my Weight Watchers friend wins the big prize for having the MOST F2Fs (8) in the month of April! Alli, from Green Dog Wine wins the littler prize for having the MOST (13)total finds.
Click here to see the rules and hop on board for May’s edition of this game.
Congrats you 2! Send me your mailing info so I can send you your little prizes!
