My Car Almost Got Blown Off the Road

Hi.

Jesus the weather is insane today!  It’s like 60+ degrees, pouring rain, and windy as all get out.  A wind gust nearly shoved my car off a 6-lane highway this morn.

Hey WIND.  I have to drive my very Light and Fuel Efficient car RIGHT next to one of the Nation’s largest rivers every.single.day on my commute to work.  I’d APPRECIATE it if you wouldn’t shove my car INTO the River.

Youstupidfucker.

Kthxbye.

Breks!

  • toasted english muffin
  • lobster tin mug coffee

Ok Erin.  I know that you think the lobster tin mug is supa cute and all.  But surely your readers are beyond bored of seeing it every morning.  Oh, and, they GET that you eat eggwhites all.the.time.  Maybe think about mixing it up a little, eh?

Yesterday we got back from our Philly road trip just in time for a full day of playoff games and Sunday night pizza.

  • mushroom pizza from a thankgodwefoundit decent PA pizza place
  • tossed spinach salad
  • diet root beer

Congrats to the Colts and Saints.  Twill be a decent Super Bowl, I’m thinking.

I spent Saturday-Sunday with my sista at her spot in Philly.  She and her hubby have the city’s BEST apartment for the price, location, and square footage.  Nearly 1300 ft2!  2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms!  In a city!  For a reasonable price!  I love it (I also used to live here, and hence will ALWAYS love it!).

A few snaps of her place…

Saturday we spent catching up on Life and we also took a nice powerwalk around an urban stormwater wetland complex not too far from her apartment.  We didn’t even see any homeless dudes or crazies or crackheads, which was nice.

And we didn’t see Handbags, her neighborhood crackhead who wears chemistry lab goggles and carries anywhere from 1 to 5 ladies handbags.  We usually spot him shuffling down her street or sitting on a bench outside her building, adorned in handbags (sometimes he wears them around his neck), talking to himself or yelling at traffic.

I love him.

I had a fab weekend with my best friend.  :D

Ciao peeps.

Er

Totally Gross

Sweet baby jesus was my lunch terrible today.

We had a going-away lunch for a co-worker, his choice of venue, and he picked something called Jumbo Buffet.

And it was both Jumbo and a Buffet.

Sophisticated.

If you are unfamiliar with what a Jumbo Buffet is, picture troughs of oily “Chinese or American” food (and I use that word loosely) around which patrons hover with heaping plates of said oily foods.

Other things that were jumbo at the Jumbo Buffet:

  1. the fried coating around every.single.vegetable
  2. the fried coating around nearly every.single.piece of meat
  3. most of the patrons

It is terribly gross.

Terribly terribly gross.

I have BEEN to China.  They don’t eat that nasty shit up there.  And they don’t have human feed troughs buffets.  At least not the parts of China I was in.

I managed to find a vegetable glass noodle stir fry that was average AT BEST.  And I scooped out some cooked broccoli from what can only be described as a steaming pan of dog shit chicken and broccoli.

I found the dessert bar had fresh sliced kiwi.  I have never been so excited to see a piece of fruit in my life.  Not even after 2 weeks of eating who-knows-what-the-fuck in China 5 years ago.

Now I’m stuck in this weird post-lunch place where no matter how much water I drink, I can’t seem to flush the oil from my throat.

Vomit buckets.  The WORST food I’ve eaten in a looooooooooong time.

Are you gagging yet?

Everybody do some ohms and find your zen.  And then we’ll move on to normal human food.

ohmmmm

ohmmmm

ohmmmm

Ok, I’m basically Buddha now.

Breks this morn.

Erin.  Seriously.  With such variety in breakfast, it’s no wonder you never get bored.

Hawt.

Confession.  The sprinting I did with Hillary around my in-laws backyard is the only exercise I’ve had in a week.

Soon I’ll look like I Fit IN at the Jumbo Buffet.

Dinner last night.

I need to do a full body cleanse now.  I think some yoga is in order tonight.

Speaking of yoga, Hillary’s favorite new pose…caterpillar.

If You’re My Family, Don’t Read This

What are the chances that my family will Actually not read this, lol?

Well, you’ll just be ruining a holiday gift if you do.  Nothing big, but if you’d rather not know a gift you’re getting, then Stay AWAY.

Sunday.

For those of you that are married or over the age of 28 or just generally lower on the fun-scale than say, a drunk 19-year-old sorority girl, I ask you this.  Can a rainy cold Sunday morning start out any better than…?

An everything bagel with whipped cream cheese.  Coffee in a cheap-but-cute holiday mug from Michaels.

and pretending to read but really digging for coupons reading the Sunday paper??

DSC_0565

Answer = no way.  BEST way to start Sunday.  This beats 3 Advil, moaning with nausea, and grappling with faint blurry memories of a drunken 20-year-old Saturday night.

Any.Day.of.the.Week.

I wish someone coulda told me how awesome life would get once I hit 30.

I would have taken it a little easier on my liver early on.

Just sayin.

Hey.  A message for people of all faiths, no faith, whatever.  Peace on Earth kinda fits all perspectives.  Yes!

So.  I’m blogging on my laptop while watching the Eagles trounce the Giants (PA > NY).  And I hate this.  Nathan or Herb.  Add this to my Hate List, ok.  Blogging on a laptop with no mouse.

Hates.

This.

This goddam touch pad is for Young People or dwarves or elves or something.  Totally useless for normal sized humans.

Saturday!

Saturday started out kickass.  Hubby had to go out of town for something.  So Erin got the day ALL to HERSELF!

cartwheels…cartwheels….handsprings….splits…flips…!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven’t an alone day since I moved to PA, and holy shit was it awesome.

I bet you’re thinking I did Awesome Things and Klassy Things all.day.long.

  • went to Michaels for Ball jars and holiday ribbon and other holiday stuff I didn’t need but had a 40% off coupon for
  • went to the liquor store to buy HANDLES of vodka (I Am Awesome, like I said)
  • made holiday gifts of total awesomeness

Here’s the part where my family should avert their eyes.

Erin spent her solo evening with her good friend Smirnoff and a bowl full of farmer’s market fruit.

Why, you ask?

To make fruit-infused vodka, of course.  Welcome to Erin’s homemade fruit-infused vodka!!!!!  This is a fun homemade gift for all those people in my life that love cocktails as much as I do!

It’s so easy it’s embarrassing not embarrassing.

  1. buy cool fruit
  2. buy middle grade vodka (at least double distilled)
  3. buy Ball or Kerr jars with good lids at Michaels and brave the crazy bottle-blonde middle age central PA ladies who are so whoa crazy they are yelling “Fucking Jackasses” to the stack of Christmas baskets behind you because they can’t find the green plaid basket and don’t want to give Grandma AND Aunt June the same red plaid patterned basket because that would be Insane
  4. go home and poor yourself a beer, big glass of petit syrah, or vodka cocktail
  5. turn on Lady Gaga
  6. slice all the fruit
  7. fill the jars with the fruit
  8. pour the vodka into the jars
  9. oh yeah, before you get to this step, be sure you washed the jars
  10. screw on the lids
  11. refrigerate for a week
  12. strain fruit
  13. tie pretty Christmas ribbon around jars
  14. give as kickass gifts to people you like

Here we have it…

VODKA.  FRUIT.

This MUST be healthy.

I won’t say what fruit combos I used in order to maintain SOME element of surprise for my naughty family that have ignored my earlier warnings and have Indeed read this part.

Naughty little duffers.

Nite.

Er

P.S.  It took me 20 minutes to type this stupid post out on my laptop for elves, so if I don’t get at least 20 comments, I will be Very Sad.  And Pissed Off that I spent this much time on a hobby that is almost barely rewarding and certainly doesn’t pay anything…

Over the Weekend…

Blog friends!

Over the holiday weekend I chose not to had no time to post.  I just wanted to enjoy every minute of family time, relaxing, and etcetera.

Here’s so recap pics.

My sista and her hubby stayed with us Thursday-Friday.  They love our new casa.  And seem to TO-TALLY relax…

  • 1 topped with scrambled egg + cheese + hot sauce
  • sliced apple
  • morning Coffee to straighten things out

We went to an Irish pub for lunch and a brew, and I forgot my camera.

[insert tuna pita + fresh fruit + Sierra Nevada pale ale]

They then hit the road to visit more Fam.

For exercise Erin did her very first Yoga Download from yogadownload.com.  Hint.  The 20-minute seshes are FREE!!  Awesome.  I was trembling at the end of a power core workout…even just 20minutes of it.

Hubby and I spent the night watching the latest from our Netflix queue…Revolutionary RoadReview time.  If you are late 20s-early 30s, do.not watch this film.  It will make you want to shoot yourself in the face just to escape how utterly depressing it is.

Bad bad bad.  Good acting, horrible story line.  In an effort to scrub this movie outta our heads, we watched an hour of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.  Did The Job!

We gobbled up some leftovers for Din

 DSC_0514

 DSC_0515

  • leftover turkey
  • stuffing
  • half a yam
  • spoonful of baked corn
  • tossed salad for some much needed greenery

I’m really happy with my portion control this holiday!!

Saddaday, Hubby and I slept way late and then hit up the local farmers market for lunch and local produce/meat.  But first we started our day like this…

  • leftover biscuit
  • veggie patty
  • eggwhite
  • hot sauce
  • cheese
  • coffee ala red spotted mug x2

Confession.  I ate a delicious buttery soft pretzel for my lunch.  Worth every calorie and gram of fat!

Then we checked out a gorgeous nature preserve just 5 minutes from our house.  Beautiful plank trail through wetlands and forests, all surrounding this 200+ acre preserve.  Gorgey!  Can’t wait to take Hilly bean there.

We watched more movies and did this…

I have pics but on a diff camera and I don’t have the upload cord.  Will report back later.

We watched our beloved Steelers lose.  Again.

And ate pizza!

Which I forgot to photo, lol.

  • ww crust with sauce and pecorino cheese
  • sauteed peppers and onions
  • Applegate Farms roasted red pepper sausages

Tis a lenghty recap but I owed it to ya!
