What Do You Eat When You Fly?

LOL, sorry, I’m still riding my helicopter high from yesterday!

A quick recap of Tuesday’s eats since I’m supa ridic bizzy bee at work.

Din last night was yum in my tum.  A crockpot dish of beans and bison in a spicy creamy salsa sauce.  So good.  Nevermind the laptop side dish.  Bad blogger!

  • ground bison + black beans + cauliflower + peppers in a ff cream cheese and salsa sauce
  • wild rice
  • tossed spinach salad with homemade honey dijon dressing
  • water to drink

I really liked the wild rice as the base.  Hubz wasn’t too keen on it.

I did 20 minutes HARD ellipticalling and then 20 mins of arm work – curls, dips, walking pushups, chest flies, etc.

Plus a brisk walk with Hillary to get the muscles warmed up!

My coworker treated me to a lunch of sushi after our helicopter work!

  • cucumber roll
  • eel + avocado roll
  • about half of those way too delicious fried things

I’m a wasabi kook and use a TON.  When you eat sushi, are you straight up or with a wicked twist of fiery wasabi?

I had a bigger than normal Breks yesterday just in case I ended up getting air sick or naseous.  I wanted a good solid chunk of food to hold down the tummy fort up in that helo.  I was fine, so this musta done the trick.

  • half a fried egg with peppers and mushrooms
  • laughing cow garlic and herb cheese
  • whole grain panini toasted
  • HOT sauce
  • bowl of nectarine slices
  • coffee!

Ok, must finish out my busy bee day.  I have to leave work at 3pm in order to get to COURT in time.  Oh yeah.  Remember when I got hit last month?  Today I am supposed to testify for the State against the driver that hit me.  He’s contesting his citation for careless driving, and I’ve been summoned to testify.

This has undoubtedly been a crazy week for IWITW!

Ciao.

*running out the door*

Ah, I am in SUCH a rush.  This will be short on text.  We’re minutes from heading out the door for a weekend-of-family.  First stop…Pittsburgh for the in-laws then back home to Hanover, PA to visit Dad and his wife.  It’ll be hectic but fun cuz we (luckily) both really like our families and in-laws!

Lunch was great.  I ate it while watching tivo’d epis of Real Housewives of NJ.  Um.  I’m kinda hooked.  Total trash tv that is fun for summertime relaxing.

  • ginorm salad ala Erin (this means it has goat cheese)
  • last remnants of bbq chicken + white beans on whole grain bread

I’ve spent the day exploring ways to find an additional source of income.  I’m a gov’t employee, and today was my first of who-knows-how-many-are-to-come furlough days.  This is a day where I don’t go to work and DON’T get paid either.  It’s an “effort” to trim NJ’s state budget.  It’s beyond laughable.  We’re $2.3 billion in the hole and today’s furlough is saving the state $8mil.  It’s peanuts, yet us middle class workers suffer.

*steps off soapbox only due to lack of time to rant*

Breks was AMAZING!  We’re out of fruit b/c we’re going away for the weekend.  But I remembered I had frozen peaches.  Introducing waffles with buttery peaches!

  • Nature’s Path red berry waffles + peaches sauteed in a little butter and honey
  • coffee

Hey, this knocked my proverbial socks off.  Totally amazing and a keeper for my recipe book.  Since I slept 9 hours (wee!!) I didn’t need much coffee.

Last night we had turkey fajitas.  I ended up sauteeing portabellas, white beans, corn, peppers, onions, and turkey all together, and topping with avocado and spinach.  It was good but woulda been better sans turkey.  I’ve discovered I don’t like ground turkey!

But to make up for it, I got to sample some of Mallory’s AMAZING FANTASTIC nut butter cups.  I won these from the Auction/Bake Sale I hosted.  Srsly, girl.  Sell these IRL b/c they are so flipping good.

Sorry so short, but I promise to blog from the road.

Ciao!!

Er

A worm in my hair

**heebie jeebies**

Hi kids.  I just got back from my afternoon walk in the warmth + sun.  And I swear I have an inchworm crawling around in my hair.  I’ve dug all thru my head and there’s nothing there (heh), but I could SWEAR I feel creepies crawling up there.  Do you ever get that feeling?

**shudder**

Here’s a little pretty from my walk…

Lunch was FAR less healthy than yesterday and light years more fun to eat.

On Mr. Stripey…

  • Whole grain roll with curried free range chicken salad
  • eleventy billion red raspberries
  • trail mix mess
  • some of that dark chocolate

I don’t want anyone to ask me what either the free range chicken salad NOR what the organic raspberries cost.   I won’t tell.

cha-CHING.

In local news, NJ’s governor released another round of budget cuts to state programs, agencies, and departments.  It’s not good here kids, I won’t lie.  Everyone keep their fingers crossed that Erin’s job says solvent please.

I’m heading home soon to assemble more furniture, walk the dog, have a beer and whatever else the evening brings.

What are y’all up to?

Horoscope

 Today’s horoscope reads

Your Horoscope - Today, May 14, 2009

A financial windfall could come as the result of a coup that no one expected you to be able to pull off, Erin.   As a result, everyone is likely to be very proud of you - not to mention that you’re very pleased with yourself!  This is only the start of a fortunate new turn in your life.  As far as money goes, it may be all downhill from here on out.

*crosses fingers*

Woot.  I’m going to be RICH.  That is just what I suspected, given my rather non-secure, non-profitable career choice.  Hugging trees doesn’t pay well, but apparently Soon It Will.

And apparently I’m going to be very pleased with myself too.  What outstanding luke-warm sentiment.

I do rather enjoy pulling off “coups” as well.  Hey.  When was the last time anyone even used that word in a conversation NOT related to the Taliban, Thailand, or Zimbabwe?

I always suspected I was special.

And special people eat good food.

See.

Lunch was good for me, if not a little on the too-healthy side for my cravings today…

  • very healthy tasting whole wheat bread + 2 slices ham + half a slice of swiss + lettuce + honey dijon
  • healthy carrots + healthy broccoli + healthy hummus
  • half a healthy mango

I can feel my body wanting to veer off the healthy train for 1 meal.  Uh oh…

What do you guys indulge in when you start to get unhealthy cravings?
