So Much to Say
Cripe! I haven’t blogged in over 24 hours and I’m so behind in pics. Sometimes, this sucks.
Let’s just get to it.
Just had Din after getting back from a 2+ hour fundraiser for local candidates running for City Council. Hubz is the Campaign Manager so attendance is mandatory. It was a nice time. We’re far too busy prepping for our vaca (last minute) to make Din, so we ordered Sunday Pizza.

- brick oven pizza w/onion
- green leaf salad with kale (good addition) + carrot + cukes + peppers+ pea pods + cranberries + goat cheese
- Smuttynose IPA
- water
I know I’ve said it a zillion times, but our local pizza place is so much better than everything else out there. SO much better. But, I was a good girl and filled up on salad first so I only at 2 slices (which I cut in half each to make it feel like more food) of pizza.
The fundraiser was fine. I try to keep politics off my blog for sensitivity reasons, esp since Hubz is a campaign manager. So I’ll keep my thoughts about the fundraiser quiet. But it was a lovely day and I had some lovely chats with diff people!
My eats…I started with a Rolling Rock (yeah PA).

Check out the pretty food table.

My plate of afternoon eats was 1 shrimp, 1 slice of swiss + 4 crackers, 1 tortilla and salsa, some veg + dip, fresh fruit, white wine.

And then the desserts came out, which were many and oh so tempting. But I stayed far away and just took 1 bite each of Hubz plate. Then I did go back and eat 1 of the butterscotch walnut bars, which were SOO flipping good. I think I’m a butterscotch addict. Srsly. I love it.

The centerpieces were flowers from the hosts’ garden.

Lunch was grab and go + an attempt to use up all the perisables in our house, hence the plethora of cheese on our sams. Mine is the one with the ham tongue sticking out on the left, lol.

We had to eat while walking to the car to go to the mall. Hubz needed new shorts and we had a supa Eddie Bauer coupon. Of Course I manged to find 2 items worth purchasing. I did good though. 1 fushia empire waist 3/4 length sleeve top (perfect for layering for hiking in New England) and a pair of black waterproof/sunproof hiking shorts. And then a quick stop at Bath and Body Works for body spray (holla new White Citrus for $12!).
[insert Erin running around doing laundry between Breks and going to the mall]
Breks was a 100% repeat of yesterday. Again, I’m trying to use up all perishables, meaning muffins and fruit. And yesterday’s Breks was SO good, so why not?

Got about 6 hours sleep, which is fine. Not great, but eh, ok. I plan to sleep more tonight, although it’s 10:30pm and I’m still doing laundry and have yet to pull out anything for packing.

Last night’s dinner party was fun! Our friends Dina and Jared visited and we had a lovely evening together. Lots of chats + wine. Dina’s Greek and brought this fantastic wine to have with dinner.

The spread was creamy pesto pasta + organic chicken sausge, salad, homemade cheesy garlic bread. Honestly, the garlic bread was the evening’s Highlight! So flipping good, and I totally made up the recipe. Def going in my cookbook.

Ok, Hubz is gonna kick my ass if I don’t get off this computer and help pack for our trip. Wish me luck!
Nite!
Rush job
Morning kids.
Your very last GIVEAWAY Reminder! The contest ends tonight at 8pm EST.
Ack…LOST! I won’t reveal any spoilers for you slow pokes who haven’t watched it yet (ahem). I will just state that I am still reeling. What the dickens I going to do without this show for the next nine months?!
Breks this morning was a total rush job, but still good.

Piled together with my work gear…
- whole wheat mini bagel with fried eggwhites + peppers/mush/kale + swiss + 1 slice Applegate Farm ham + HOT sauce
- COFFEE
- kiddie vitamin (grown up ones make me sick)
I did eat this in my car, yes. But. I made it to work On Time.
Pre-LOST last night, the hubz and I spent an hour assembling ONE of our new night stands. Thank god for him b/c I am completely incompetent at understanding complex manual assemblage instructions. My sister inherited those genes. I did not. All I ever manage to do is screw things together and hold things straight for the hubz to assemble. I’m a good helper.
Din was outstanding and 1 of my fav recipes.

At the table…
- crockpot creamy buffalo & white bean chicken over wild rice
- tossed spinach salad with cukes + carrots + maters + avocado + goat cheese + cranberries + almonds + lf rasp/walnut dressing
- water
Din was H-O-T but so SO good. Definitely “more-ish” as the husband says.
During dinner Hubz and I caught up on our lives. We do so many extra curricular things, that dinner time is our catch up time. Yesterday he had breakfast with the Independent candidate running for NJ Governor this year. It was a very successful meeting and I’m excited at what’s to come.
Are there any interesting political races in your neck of the woods this year?
Bizzy bees need to work now.
Wet dog
Hilly dog had a bath before work this morning. It was impossible to snap pics of her whilst getting bathed, so all I have are some after shots of her pretty, puffy, damp self.

Breks today was a repeat bowl of Tuesday’s new cereal.

In the earthy brown bowl…
- 3/4 cup Nature’s Path Optimum Slim
- 1/4 PB Puffins
- unsweetened blueberries & coconut
- 3 almonds
- skim milk
Very chewy and whole-food tasting. I like it a lot. I don’t think the hubz would though…not sweet enough for him. And it keeps me full. I ate this at 8:30 am and it’s 12:15pm now, and I’m just approaching hunger signals. Pretty impressive, I think.
Last night’s date was fun but the event was total Krap. I won’t go into details here other than to see I heard a lot of the same boring political rhetoric that gets nothing accomplished, and saw a lot of self-promoting. Basically an event for people to donate $$ and pat themselves on their backs for faux good citizen & community stewardship. It was hard not to frown, publicly, at the krap I was hearing. Definitely counter to real change and what it takes to get real action accomplished…stuff I’ve learned thru grassroots organizing.
At least there was a bar…

And a pretty table with pretty flowers and a pretty meal.

- salad with heirloom tomatoes, feta, and walnuts (drizzled with 1 T of garlic basalmic vin
- whole grain bread (good!)
- vegetarian dinner of pastry wrapped lentils in an Italian based flavor (oregano, garlic, pepper, olive oil) with onions and zucchini
- 2 club sodas & vodka
I ate the salad, 1 piece of bread, and ate 1/3 of that pastry before scraping out the lentils and just eating them. It was quite nice and looked far better than the chicken/filet combo that all the meat-eaters were served. Mass-cooked meat is not my idea of fine dining. I did not eat that lovely coconut pastry back there behind my salad plate. I wanted to, but figured it wasn’t worth the cals & fat.
Handsome husband!

A few of you have asked about my camera. Here it is.

Time to eat lunch now and go for a stroll.
We have a date
Tonight the hubz and I have a date (a political event, but fancy nonetheless). I honestly don’t know if I can take my camera or not. We shall see. It’s at a swank hotel in a town not far from where we live, so I’m expecting a decent meal and interesting socialization.
I did a 30 minute walk after lunch today, just to loosen the limbs and spike the metabolism a bit since there’s no time for a gym trip tonight.
For now, I leave you with with lunch and more evidence that Spring is, in fact, here.

On Mr. Stripey…
- leftover crockpot poblano chicken soup
- 1 small piece of Marathon bread
- BIG tossed salad with green beans, cukes, carrot, maters, dried cherries, goat cheese sprinkle & basalm/vin dressing
- 2 PB stuffed dates
I’m an eating machine today, b/c I just ate a Bosc pear and am about to eat some OIKOS. What the heck body? We’re trying to lose weight, remember?
Oh, and I scarfed this down a sec ago…

What do you do when you’re having a starvin marvin day?
SPRING
